About The Show

You Are Forgiven! These words—and the fact they describe—are at the very heart of the Christian faith.

For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
— John 6:40

Sadly, though, far too many representatives of Christianity would have you believe the heart of the faith is described by words like “You can do better!”, or “What would Jesus do?”, or even “God helps those who help themselves!”

You Are Forgiven! radio is here to bring the truth of Christ’s forgiveness for you into clearer focus. The cacophony of information these days—especially “Christian” information—offers you a myriad of tips, techniques and checklists, all purporting to help you become a better Christian, or to show you how you can get closer to God, or even how to make yourself acceptable to God.

Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.
— John 6:28-29

What’s wrong with that? One big thing: Checklists don’t provide the power to do what they demand, and we ultimately fail. To paraphrase the great Christian Reformer, Martin Luther, checklists say “do this,” and it is never done. Good news—the Christian message—says “believe this,” and it is already done. You Are Forgiven! radio is here to proclaim what’s already been done for you. Believe it!

When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, ”It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
— John 19:30

So, yes, You Are Forgiven! radio hopes to be a different sound amidst the noise. Our goal is to proclaim the genuine good news—that’s what “Gospel” means—of Christ’s forgiveness for you. We do not offer you better tips, techniques or checklists. Instead, You Are Forgiven! radio is sermons by faithful pastors who will clearly show how you cannot be forgiven by your own efforts, no matter how well you do on your homework, your checklist of tasks. But they will also show how you are actually and already forgiven because Jesus has done all that is needed, for you!

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
— Philippians 2:12-13
